Production Sites - Sweden
Not only was the Swedish production site the first to bear the Ferring name, it was also one of the first pharmaceutical manufacturers in the world to develop and sell products based on naturally occurring pituitary peptide hormones.
It all started in Sweden in 1950 when Ferring's founder Dr. Frederik Paulsen developed and patented a method for extracting the hormone ACTH from the pituitary glands of hogs.
Five decades later, Ferring AB has developed into a streamlined production unit that operates to the highest regulatory standards of safety, efficiency and environmental control. The site's core competencies include processing of tablets, production of solutions for nasal application and aseptic processing of solutions and lyophilisates for injection.
Over the next few years, one of the most significant changes in processing at Ferring AB will be the introduction of a new one-step granulator for MINIRIN (desmopressin) tablets.
Ferring AB has succeeded in maintaining customer service rates that stay on target. With a long history and dedication to development, the Malmö site will continuously endeavour to meet company expectations and to comply with the EU and US regulations.
